SHIFTING PERSPECTIVES
“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view until you climb in his skin and walk around in it.” — Atticus Finch to Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird
We believe that through experience, personal beliefs, judgments, knowledge (as well as lack of information), and our needs and desires all affect our perceptions. By shifting our perspectives, we can broaden our understanding of circumstances, events, and behaviors.
We have come to expect that the world will behave in certain ways. There's a well-known adage that perception is reality. How we see things becomes our truth. Our perceptions significantly influence us — How we see the world, the people around us, and situations dictate how we interact with it. There are certain circumstances that we cannot change in life, but a shift in perspective makes it all different. It discovers new ways of thinking and deepening understanding.
Shifting perspectives will help you gain a better understanding of most circumstances you come across and, with practice, improve the choices on how you interpret your surroundings. Shifts of perspective help us think more clearly. They allow us to conquer seemingly insurmountable obstacles, travel far more quickly, and see the world in new ways. They also assist us in lifting others by sharing what we have learned and experienced.
As artists, we try to take something, whether it is an object or a scene and start analyzing it in a way that it has never been examined before. Our works focus on the need to know more about life's meaning, our purpose, and desires. Fear, Nature, Ignorance, Existence... It is a cycle that we are all trying to figure out, whether it is because of our natural tendency to believe what we see.
